Summer So Far...

During the summer, I find myself amazed that I am able to accomplish anything during the school year; we barely get anything done when we're not working! Here are some pictures of what we've been up to for the past couple days.

Vivian's birthday party was on Saturday. In our family, this party is sort of an epic summer kickoff - Lisa always throws an amazing bash. Charlotte, unfortunately, was sort of a grouch for most of it, and even when we borrowed one of Vivi's bathing suits, didn't want anything to do with the kiddie pools or sprinklers that the other kids were playing in. She just wanted to swing. Oh well.
I will say that after pizza arrived, she perked up quite a bit. That's my girl.

Here is Charlotte posing for her Father's Day picture. The children sang at church in front of the church, and Charlotte opted to sit with one of her teachers instead. Perhaps her destiny is not to be a performer. That's okay.

I don't know what this picture is....breakfast, obviously, on a Sunday morning because we're eating cinammon rolls. I don't know...

In other news, Vacation Bible School is this week, meaning we eat dinner at church and get home late every night. Our VBS this year is really cool; it's called "Armor Up," and it's all about the armor that believers wear. Our church started putting together its own VBS last year, and this one is already so much better; the songs are original, the games, the lessons, everything is gospel-based (which, listen, is not always a given with VBSs).

Charlotte started swimming lessons this week also, and that has been going MUCH better than expected. Pictures to come, I'm sure.

Also starting this week is potty training. I refuse to be a mother who blogs about potty training any more than to say that we are working on it. As an outside observer, that is all you need to know.

And lastly (phew!), we are heading over to UVA today for a 6 month checkup for Charlotte's feet. The quick recap is that Charlotte was born with club feet, still sleeps in braces that hold her feet correctly, and has to be checked out twice a year. It's not a big deal, and usually the appointment itself only takes about five minutes since we listen to the doctors and do what we're supposed to do. If we need to get bigger braces, which we usually do, that's what takes awhile. So that's going on today, and we're all pretty excited about a little road trip after swimming lessons.

And that's it right now, friends. We love summer vacation in our house, and there are many more updates to come. Soli Deo Gloria!!
